Security |
Our quality of life begins with basic security. As a larger city, we will face new challenges and must be willing to invest in public safety. This includes ensuring that our peace officers are adequately provided with staffing and equipment. |
Transportation |
Key issues were addressed in 2007 with the completion of the Dallas North Tollway extension and resolution of the Highway 121 contract. In an environment of limited availability of funding through TXDOT, tolling was the only way to ensure timely completion of Highway 121. I supported the efforts of local leaders to award the contract to NTTA and improve the terms of future tolling rate increases.
As one of the fasted growing cities in the nation, we will continue to be challenged to build roads fast enough. It is important to understand that many of our roads are under the control of the state, not the city. Where possible, the city has been proactive in expediting construction of key roads such as the Panther Creek expansion as an alternative to waiting on state construction of El Dorado Parkway.
I will continue to promote creative ideas and work with regional partners to implement near and long-term solutions including eventual development of better mass transit options such as commuter or light rail. |
Education |
The City of Frisco has benefitted from strong partnerships between City Leadership and the FISD. I will work to maintain these relationships and continue to support joint initiatives that are beneficial for Frisco and the students of FISD.
I support the efforts to bring additional college level opportunities to Frisco through the presence of satellite campuses and even eventually a Frisco based four year University. |
Budget Discipline |
I will use my financial skills to ensure that we spend tax dollars wisely, seeking to invest in essential projects and infrastructure while carefully monitoring changes in our rate of growth and economic trends. |
Downtown Revitilization |
I will support continued development of Downtown Frisco and Frisco Square. |
Culture & Arts |
I believe culture and arts are important parts of a healthy community. I support reasonable levels of investment in the arts and development of the Arts of Collin County project. |
